"Coming Up To Consciousness" is the bands 6th studio album and the3rd of their renaissance after the break that began with "Eupnea" and continued with "Above Cirrus". Like its 2 predecessors, the new album is also very personal. The 8 tracks deal with different types of darkness. The band's unmistakable style, which combines prog and pop through dreamy moods, epic riffs and angelic harmonies, has remained. However, Courtney and Jong have also tried to take a slightly different path by incorporating influences from Talk Talk, The Smile, Arctic Monkeys alongside their all-time favourites - above all Pink Floyd. Guy Pratt, who has worked with Pink Floyd a.o., contributed bass guitar on seven of the eight tracks, while Jon Sykes of The Pineapple Thief played bass on one song. Bruce Soord, also from The Pineapple Thief, mixed the album in stereo and for the first time for PRR in Dolby Atmos + 5.1 Surround Sound.
